RUBY PAGRAM
Starting out at Griffith Film School I wasn’t too sure what kind of department I wanted to focus on working towards and kind of just fell into the sound department during an assignment in my first year. Since then, the sound department has been where I’ve felt most comfortable and has given me opportunities such as sound recording on Crackpot and travelling out to Winton to work as a sound recordist on a short horror and mockumentary. My film career thus far has been rather short but after graduation I would love to continue working in the sound department (including in postproduction) with plans to learn a little more about live sound production and mixing.

MATTHEW NEWSOME
COMPOSER
Matthew Newsome is a Brisbane-based composer, arranger, orchestrator, and audio engineer with a keen focus on original soundtrack composition and arrangement for games, film, television, and other visual media. He writes and produces scores which aim to accentuate the ideas and visions of others. Graduating from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music in 2020, his compositional ability extends itself to a variety of genres and has most recently worked on the cross-collaborative Griffith Film School animation and live-action short film Guardians, with his arrangements featured everywhere from cult Brisbane pop rock-artist Your Man Alex Smith’s latest album Slow
Burn to the esoteric score of experimental, arthouse short The Art of Loathing. Aiming to capture the emotions of listeners through audio, Matt believes that ultimately, music is meant to invite an audience into a realm of imagination and reverie. With the right music, the reverie does not only captivate, it unfolds into reality.
